The Best of James is a UK DVD featuring two restored first series episodes and one restored second series episode narrated by Ringo Starr and four restored third series episodes, one fifth series episode, one sixth series episode, one seventh series episode, two eighth series episodes, one ninth series episode, one tenth series episode, one twelfth series episode, two thirteenth series episodes, two fourteenth series episodes, and one fifteenth series episode narrated by Michael Angelis.

Description

Thomas is often seen with the No. 5 red engine, James! He has a fine scarlet coat and thinks of himself as a Really Splendid Engine. To celebrate the friendship between Thomas and James enjoy 20 fantastic James episodes, from the classic live action to the all new animation.

The back cover features an image from the thirteenth series episode, Thomas and the Pigs even though the episode is not featured on the DVD.
Steamy Sodor and Toby and the Whistling Woods are featured on the DVD, but James only plays a minor role in those episodes. This is possibly due to HiT Entertainment wanting the DVD to have the same amount of CGI episodes as The Best of Percy did. But since James only had three centered episodes in the CGI Series at the time, the two episodes where he played minor roles were added to fill in the DVD.
