The Great Railway Show Yard is a large shunting yard on the Mainland that was used as the venue for the Great Railway Show. The yard is maintained by at least five diesel shunters.

History

Residential, commercial and industrial buildings sit on elevated land around the yard. The yard itself has two turntables - one by the entrance and one by the exit - as well as numerous points and sidings. There is an elevated section of track near the edge of the yard for the strength challenge.

The best decorated parade, strength challenge and shunting challenge all took place within the yard, while the race took place outside on a specialised loop of tracks.
