Thomas and the Kites is a magazine story illustrated using photographs from the CGI series of Thomas & Friends. It was later published in the 2011 Thomas Annual.
Plot
Thomas is given the job of delivering the winner's cup to the 'Sodor Kite Competition'. On his way, Thomas spots a kite which the Fat Controller's grandchildren Stephen and Bridget are flying in a nearby field. Suddenly, the kite blows away and Thomas goes after it. He refuses help from Charlie, Edward, Emily and Percy and he then runs out coal. Percy kindly gives Thomas some coal and Thomas takes the cup to the competition whilst Charlie, Edward, Percy and Emily catch the kite. Thomas thanks his friends and so do Bridget and Stephen.
