Thomas and the Magic Railroad is a graphic novel released in Japan in 2000. It is based on the feature film of the same name, and was written and illustrated by Tatsuyoshi Kobayashi. The book has remained out of print since 2000.

- The illustrations of the engines are largely comprised of traces of either promotional art or scenes from the movie and previous episodes.
- Bulstrode appears in the book, but he does not appear in the special.
- The manga features several adaptational changes from the movie, including:
- An extra scene at the beginning of Thomas talking to Henry and Bertie as he travels to Tidmouth Sheds.
- The scene where Thomas and Gordon first meet Diesel 10 happens at Tidmouth Sheds after Thomas crashes into the buffers next to James.
